PhD position on Understanding deep learning at TU/e

Do you want to obtain fundamental insight into deep learning? would you love to spend your time exploring how CNNs, transformers, and graph neural networks really work? Are you interested to see how gradient descent, dataset structure, and network architecture interact? Do you wonder about internal representations and learning dynamics? 

Come join us at the Data and AI cluster at the Eindhoven Unversity of Technology (in the Netherlands)! We have an opening for a five-year PhD position with 25% teaching and 75% research. The position comes with a competitive salary, and the Data and AI cluster at TU/e is an exciting, ambitious, and international environment. 

(Preferred) Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Physics, or Mathematics (or Equivalent degrees), 
  • Strong analytical skills, 
  • Strong programming skills, 
  • Experience with deep learning (in an academic context or in the industry), 
  • Interest in teaching and supervising AI students, 
  • Ability to work in an international, interdisciplinary team, 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
