Department of Nursing Graduate Assistant 

Educational Objectives 

Develop skills related to nursing program assessment and evaluation 

Participate in the accreditation activities of the SMSU nursing programs

Salary & Appointment: 

Position appointed on an annual basis for August-May (Academic Year)

Annual stipend of $8,000 paid on a bi-weekly basis and a tuition  waiver for SMSU

The graduate assistant will work an average of 14 hours per week during the spring and fall semester and possibly in the summer as arranged.

Qualifications: 

Must have an unencumbered and current Registered Nurse License in Minnesota. 

Must be a full or part-time student in the MSN Nurse Educator Program.

Must meet all requirements for admission to the MSN Nurse Educator Program. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Chair of Nursing and Nursing Director in tasks related to program assessment, evaluation, and accreditation of undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. 
  • May work remotely via the Internet to complete assigned work 
  • Assist with the attending Nursing pinning Event/Ceremony.
  • Participates in select Department and Program meetings. 
  • Meets with Chair and Program Directors via Zoom as needed related to program assessment, evaluation, and accreditation work

Clientele: 

Chair, director, faculty, and staff in nursing

Supervision: 

Under the direction of the Chair and director of the Department of Nursing
