Studentship Summary

A fully funded 4-year Ph.D. The position (€19,000 annum stipend) is available in the laboratory of Dr. Oleksiirukhlenko, Systems Biology Ireland, University College Dublin School of Medicine.

Starting date: October 2023

The Research Project

The successful candidate will contribute to the "Using AI and Cyber-physical modeling to tackle RAS-driven cancers" project funded under the SFI-IRC Pathway programme, examining pancreatic and colorectal cancers.. In this project, we will utilize a recently developed cSTAR approach [1] to combine computational modelling and wet-lab experiments in order to investigate mechanisms of drug resistance in RAS-mutant cancers.

The Rukhlenko Group is part of the Systems Biology Ireland (SBI) Centre based in the UCD School of Medicine. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities for wider collaborations and developing skills, knowledge, and experience. Postdoctoral researchers at SBI have access to Postdoctoral Researchers at UCD.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in systems biology, particularly, computational systems biology, and experience in at least one of the following: ODE modelling, Bioinformatics, analysis of omics data, and wet-lab systems biology.

How to apply

Interested candidates should submit their CV and a brief research statement describing their background and research interests and how they align with the project and the broader interests of the group. Applications should be submitted by email directly to Dr. Oleksii Rukhlenko, assistant professor of Biomedical systems Biology, UCD School of Medicine at oleksii.rukhlenko@ucd.ie by the deadline of 15 September 2023.
