Are you passionate about Evolutionary Ecology? Ohio University's Giery Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences is offering exciting graduate positions for 1-2 students (M.S. or Ph.D.) to join their team, starting in January 2024.

The research conducted by the Giery Lab is focused on exploring the reciprocal interactions between evolutionary and ecological processes in nature. This involves studying how intraspecific diversity evolves and impacts ecological dynamics at various levels, ranging from community to ecosystem levels. The lab's work is multidisciplinary, utilizing a diverse array of tools and approaches, including historical resurveys, intensive field surveys, stable isotope analyses, and field experiments.

As a graduate student in the Giery Lab, you will have the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Giery on a research project. You will gain valuable skills in conducting fieldwork, experimental design, and quantitative analysis. The lab provides a supportive environment for your growth as a researcher and offers mentorship to develop competitive National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship proposals (NSF GRFP) and other fellowship applications.

Furthermore, all students admitted to the program are guaranteed assistantships, which can provide financial support ranging from $18,000 to $25,000 per year. These assistantships are a combination of teaching and other roles, offering you valuable experience in various aspects of academia.

If you are interested in starting your graduate studies in Spring 2024, don't miss the opportunity to apply! Submit your preliminary materials by August 25th, 2023, to be considered for the Spring '24 cohort. However, applications will continue to be reviewed until all positions are filled, so if you're considering starting in Fall 2024, make sure to apply as soon as possible.

For more information and to apply, reach out to Dr. Giery at stgiery@gmail.com. He will be happy to answer any questions you have about the program and guide you through the application process.
